Vegetarian variant of seekh kebabs, made of soya bean mince. Soya Chaap, also pronounced with a nasal twang as ‘Chaanp’ in the state of Punjab and nearby areas, is popular among vegetarians and those abstaining from non-vegetarian food.
Soya flour is mixed with a binder, such as all-purpose flour, and some salt. Then it is rolled, wrapped on sticks, and boiled to make a stable form. The Chaap can now be used whole as a kebab or sliced to make curries.
